What started as Philip working on his own from his office in Wetherby, has now grown to welcome new members of staff who started their careers alongside him, and are still here to this day. His son, Matthew Thompson, also grew to love architecture from an early age and after working alongside his father for over a decade, opened what is now our main architectural practice in Malton, North Yorkshire to continue its legacy – and uphold its principles.
The key is in the detail for us, which starts from your first free consultation where we visit your home or site to understand exactly what you need. We look at how you use the space – or want to use it – and design around sustainability, efficiency and durability.
All our team will provide their input too, as we take each and every design to the drawing board for thorough consideration. Our founders Philip and Matthew also personally oversee every single project, making sure the design works for you, for now and for the future.
Because we have an excellent record with Local Authority departments. We’ve worked closely with Leeds City Council and North Yorkshire County Council over the last 30 years, and know what it takes to get plans approved. We also design with building regulations in mind, meaning minimum chance of delays and hassle for you.
As well as being a RIBA certified practice, we’re also CIAT Chartered Architectural Technologists, which means we strive for the best in efficient and effective design. We have the training and expertise to project manage everything for you from start to finish, including liaising with building contractors, so you can step back and let the work happen.
We have invested in the latest software for drawings and 3D modelling – instead of just 2D modelling – so you can see exactly what your space will look like before any works begin. This means you’ll have the vision and knowledge to make the right decision.
You’ll only deal with one architect throughout the entire process, so you can rely on them for support about everything. We appreciate that building, converting and renovating is a big undertaking, so we’re here to make everything as seamless and easy as possible. That’s why you won’t be passed from pillar to post – it’ll be just your architect at the end of the phone, whenever you need.
